The biggest reason why Japan is the most Michelin-starred, surpassing even the fabled France, is because food there has gone beyond just sustenance. Food has been elevated to a level of art so much so that even in the most innocuous places, food is served so beautifully, you need to instagram it before you dig in. In so many ways, food is a living art. Cooking is art. Being a chef is the same as being a Sebastian Bach in the kitchen and a Michelangelo on dishes.
We have quite a ways to go to when it comes to reaping such coveted stars, but often times we look too high up in the skies, that we overlook the gems we have right under our noses. Organized by a group of food and wine aficionados, this monthly food experience puts in spotlight a carefully selected chef chosen from among others, so he/she can showcase his culinary craft. For a chef to be invited to this gourmet event, he has to be the ultimate maestro. Like a painter with a blank canvas, he/she will create a menu that will showcase his/her talent in combining ingredients that will bring about a dance of flavors in your palates, a symphony of tastes to please even the gods. The dishes will be a reflection of his personality as he aims to add personal touches to enhance the whole dining experience.
Since, a dining experience is never complete without the right poison, wine from an exclusive wine supplier will be tastefully paired during the event. While the chef of the night gets to show off his art as he mingles and interacts with the guests on a more personal level, the guests delight in the sumptuous fare of international cuisines while sipping on wine that even Bacchus, the god of wine, would approve of. It will be a fantastic tango on your taste buds, and a feast for your eyes as you watch a maestro perform his art.
On another note, the Philippines being home to the world’s largest hospitality business, our local talent is a huge source of culinary masters too and they will be given the proper forum. This event can offer them a venue to break out and make it to the top. Guests: be prepared to be surprised and amazed. Alain Ducasse, Joel Robuchon, Gordon Ramsay, …someday the stars will notice the twinkle of our own gems.
The events will be held at Enderun Restaurant 101. There will be a limited sitting of only 65 select guests per event. Pre-booking is necessary. The Great Chefs Kitchen is about to change the dining experience in Manila, and you , our dear guest, are invited !
